Victims of assault attending D-Doc

July 7th, 2011

Victims of assault rarely present in D-Doc but should be treated in the same way as any other patient. Regardless what the Garda or  patient may insist, the attending doctor is not required to do a medical report on the spot. The most needed on the night is comprehensive medical records. The patients own GP can deal with requests for reports and records etc. In the case of the patient not being registered with a doctor, the attending doctor may rarely be asked to do a report at a later date.
